Train Sim World: Long Island Rail Road – M3 EMU
Train Sim World için geliştirilen Long Island Rail Road M3 elektrikli çoklu ünite (EMU) ile “Big Apple” demiryolu tarihinin klasiklerinden birinin kontrolünü ele alın!
1960’ların sonu ve 1970’lerin başında, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) filosunu yenilemek için Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) desteğiyle 770 adet M1 EMU sipariş etti. Budd ve General Electric tarafından üretilen bu trenler “Metropolitan” olarak adlandırıldı ve kısa sürede LIRR’nin bel kemiği hâline geldi.
Elektrifikasyon ağının genişlemesiyle, 1984-1986 yılları arasında LIRR ve MTA bu sefer 174 adet M3 EMU siparişi verdi. M3 trenleri de Budd tarafından üretildi ve paslanmaz çelik gövdeleri, çiftli vagon yapıları ve dört adet 160 beygir gücünde motorla donatıldı. LIRR'nin üçüncü ray sisteminden DC akımla çalışan bu trenler, saatte 129 km hıza kadar ulaşabiliyor.
M1 trenleri 2007’de emekli edilirken, sarı, gri ve metalik gümüş renklerindeki M3 trenleri hâlen hizmet vermektedir ve önümüzdeki yıllarda da LIRR filosunun bir parçası olmaya devam edecektir.
